The Philosophy Society at UW is officially launched, and we are looking for determined and friendly students from ALL fields of studies to plan for next year and expand the society. If you’re pre-med or science major, it will be a great opportunity to learn more about philosophy and broaden your views. If you’re a humanities person, it will also be a great opportunity to dig deeper into the fundamental of all discipline, philosophy. 

 

If you’re interested in philosophy and want to become one of the founding members, please read the information below and apply accordingly.

 

 

  • Purpose: To provide a social contact, debate opportunities to publicize philosophy, and making philosophy more accessible to the public by reaching out to and volunteering for the community around us.

  • Available officer positions from spring 2018-spring 2019:

    • Treasurer-responsible for overseeing general financial roles, such as fundraising and funding

    • Secretary-responsible for smooth functioning of the organization, organizing the meetings and maintaining records and administration

    • External Speaker Coordinator -contacting speakers and organizing events with speakers.

    • Outreach Officer-responsible for advertising and promoting the club to the public and will be overseeing management of social media and website.

    • Debate Coordinator-responsible for choosing debate topics and organizing the debate events.

  • Available executive positions from spring 2018- spring 2019:

    • VP of External Affairs-responsible for overseeing the work of Outreach Officer and External Speaker Coordinator, connecting and reaching out to the public and speakers.

    • VP of Programs-responsible for the Secretary and the Debate Coordinator, ensuring that the internal programs of the organization runs smoothly.

 

Philosophy Society will focus on talks, debates, and reaching out to the community by volunteering and, possibly, getting involved with Center for Philosophy for Children.
